A Phone That Does More Than Make Calls

Moto QI finally upgraded my cell phone to something that does more than just make phone calls. Now I can actually be productive on the road with my new Moto Q from Sprint. Laura upgraded her phone, too, but not to something as complicated as mine.

And, to further make Steve happy, we added text messaging to both our plans. Yeah, I know… welcome to 1999. Let it be known that while I gave it, I did so kicking & screaming

Director of Common Sense

Google needs to hire me as their Director of Common Sense. They do some pretty stupid things over there.

I first complained about various Google services exporting to Excel, which I then have to import into Google Docs. Then there was Google Reader with no search capabilities.

Today I’m wondering why, when searching Google Images, Picasa Community Photos are not included. Compare this search on Picasa vs. this one on Google Images.

Let’s get a little more technical… Google is a search engine, and part of what they do is rank sites based on authority. Wouldn’t a blog with a lot of RSS subscribers be worth more than a site with little to no subscribers? Now that Google owns Feedburner, those stats should be integrated into their algorithm.

Google Business Card

Sorry, Google - I’m not looking for a job. But if you want to send the corporate jet to pick me up and entertain me for a weekend, I’ll consider your offer.

Bad Phishing

Remember my recent post on this great piece of spam that I received? Well, I just got a phishing attempt that’s just pathetic

Looks phishy

Sure, Bank of America puts exclamation points in their e-mail subjects, sends from a Yahoo address, and directs me to an IP address. At least the spelling was good.

SPAM is getting better

Remember a few months ago, when spammers had to do things like “Buy \/1agar@ now!”?? Well, I got a piece of spam that’s so good, I took a long, hard look at it.

It really looks legit! They used Google’s logo and likeness so often, I thought it was an email from Google.

Well done, SPAMMER!

It’s All My Fault

I’ve learned how to take the blame… sometimes, there’s no getting around it. So, I’m publicly taking the heat for the following:

  1. The new iPods. I was waiting many months before I bought my iPod, just knowing Apple would come out with something spectacular for the next round. But, a couple months ago, I could wait no longer and bought myself an iPod. Steve Jobs was waiting for me to buy one, before he released these updated iPods. Looks like my daughter is getting a used iPod to watch High School Musical (1 and 2) over and over and over and over, so I can get a new one.
  2. It’s going to be 90 in Buffalo today and tomorrow, because I took the air conditioner out of my office (which is on the 3rd floor of my house). If I left it in, we’d be shoveling snow today.

I would apologize for certain stocks that continue to rise, after I’ve sold them (GRMN, NVT, NTDOY, DLB to name a few) but I also have my fair share that are below my original buying point, so there’s no hard-set rule there.

I’m sure there are other things that I’ve caused… sorry (or, your welcome… whatever the case may be).

Search Google Reader

Finally - it’s here!

After I complained enough, Google has finally added search to Google Reader. See… who said complaining doesn’t get anything done?
