I love my website even more now!
January 24, 2007 // Comments are Closed
Yesterday, while working, I had FireFox on my “other” monitor. I pulled up my homepage (this one, that you’re reading) and noticed the vibrant colors. Amazing!
Then I put it back on my default monitor, and it was bland. So after adjusting the settings on my monitor for some time, I finally found settings that made the colors stand out, but kept the text nice & sharp.
Not that you care, but someday I may screw up my monitor & need to know the settings again, so here they are:
- Brightness: 100
- Contrast: 39
- Phase: 16
- Color (red, green and blue): 50
Maybe someday I’ll get a Huey Monitor Color Correction system, to keep things in line.

Upgraded site
January 23, 2007 // Comments are Closed
You probably didn’t even notice, but I upgraded to the latest version of WordPress today. It went OK - other than deactivating each of my plugins, then turning them back on. That was a bit of a mess.
Oh well - now I’m safe & secure, with the latest version. Now… to find all of the new features…

5 Things You Don’t Know About Me
December 20, 2006 // 6 Comments
Paul tagged me, and I have to make my list of 5 things you don’t know about me. Here they are:
- My first job was printing t-shirts for a small shop here in Kenmore. To this day, I still boycott the World’s Largest Demolition Derby at the Erie County Fair because I had to print so many t-shirts for them.
- I played the drums when I was younger for about 3 years. My parents actually bought me a drum set. Now that I have kids, I have to say, “What were they thinking!?!?!”
- There’s only 1 video game that I play: Civilization III. I guess that’s because I don’t have Civ IV yet
I once spent 30 hours in one weekend playing the game, then gave it to Laura and told her to hide it. I can control myself now, and probably play once every 3 or 4 months. - I hated Laura when I met her our Freshman year in High School. She really annoyed me. By our junior year, we both figured out how to get out of class, and hung out in the library together. Our mutual friend, Helena, urged us to date. Laura asked me out (I was told to wait) on February 29, 1996 - a leap day! Because there wasn’t a leap day in 2000, we had our “1st Anniversary” of dating on February 29, 2004 - 8 years after we started dating!
- In 1999, I had to choose between two companies to work for: one offered me $17 / hour, and the other offered me $7. I saw a greater long-term opportunity with the $7 / hour company, and ended up working there for nearly 6 years. Thanks to that decision, I met Paul and now work from home.
I’m tagging Ye, Brian, Steve, Laura (can I tag my wife?), and Ray.

New Blog is Live
December 17, 2006 // Comments are Closed
My new blog, ArbiNoob.com, is up & running. I spent about 40 minutes on it yesterday, which was enough time to change the nameservers, install WordPress, add a theme, and add on some plugins.
I gotta say, for 40 minutes, I got a lot done. Take a look: ArbiNoob.com
I want to get a post up today, with links on how to signup for these various services. I don’t have a following yet, but maybe someday, someone will read it.

Google Apps
December 15, 2006 // Comments are Closed
I’m trying out Google Apps for my business site, ericnagel.com. It combines e-mail, calendar, chat and other things together from one page. Brought to you by Google.

So far, it’s OK. Rather clumsy. I would not recommend this for my clients yet. I seem to get stuck… going down a path then I can’t get back to my start page. I had to set that as my homepage so I could easily get back to it.
Now, I have to look at various gadgets to add on… hopefully I can find some to make this easier for me.
