Update on Buffalo’s Economy
Last summer I wrote about Buffalo’s Economy and where it’s going. Here’s the updates:
- Bass Pro may not be coming, after waiting 2 years. The City of Buffalo, in a show of power (which I don’t think they have), has given Bass Pro 30 days to make up their mind.
- I’ve heard the ethanol plant had to go in front of the ECIDA and ask permission to build their plant. Maybe there’s some environmental or zoning regulations to meet – I hope it’s not a political thing.
- Wizard of Oz in Niagara Falls – ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- Casino – I guess it’s coming… been a little quiet in the news, though. Oh, except for the citizens who are suing to stop the development
- Tolls – in & out of the city have been shut down; Williamsville still not moved, and now Grand Island residents are suing to remove the GI tolls (um, who’s gonna pay for those bridges? sure… we’ll remove the tolls, but we’ll stop maintenance on the bridges. Or, put a “bridge tax” on all GI residents, and let others (like myself) use them for free. THINK PEOPLE – THINK!)
I didn’t have this one on my list, but the hotel planned for Elmwood Ave has been canceled.
While there’s a lot NOT happening, there’s a few things going on, and compared to a year ago, things seem better here in Buffalo. Let’s see if we can keep it going.
