Time Management
Going through my morning routine, I came across a link, to another link…etc etc etc and finally arrived at this time management page. The give some tips, including:
- Write things down
- Prioritize your list
- Plan your week
- Carry a notebook
- Learn to say no
- Think before acting
- Continuously improve yourself
- Think about what you are giving up to do your regular activities
- Use a time management system
- Identify bad habits
Really, sounds a lot like Franklin Covey. I started using the Franklin Covey system about 2 years ago, and just picked it up again a couple months ago. I’m not totally engaged in the system, but I do use the to-do list and prioritize things.
With Franklin Covey, you make your list (of small, doable items – don’t list something like “recreate Google”, but rather, break it down), then you choose if an item is an A, B, or C priority.
- A – HAS to be done today
- B – SHOULD be done today
- C – COULD be done today
Then, prioritize all of your A’s: A1, A2, A3 and do the same with your B’s and C’s. I like to use the STRF (Shortest Time Remaining First) method of prioritizing. That way, I can quickly get some things done and see the progress on my list.
Well, it’s about time to make my list for today… hopefully, not too many things will be pushed forward!
