New Keyboard

No, not the qwerty kind, but we bought a Yamaha DGX520 this weekend.

We originally bought a Casio, but the Yamaha support seemed so much better, plus it’s a fullsize 88-key keyboard, not a smaller one.  We’d like the kids to take lessons, so a full keyboard is the way to go.

I spent some time this weekend downloading MIDIs and loading them on, like the Star Wars theme and the theme from Super Mario Brothers.  I didn’t know this, but MIDIs can have a musical score and lyrics embedded… then again, most authors choose not to do this, so I’m looking for good ones.

The girls love playing Christmas songs on it, and so far, I’ve taught Jason “Mary Had a Little Lamb”.  I’ve got some learning to do, myself – it’s been a while since I played!
