DirecTV Plus vs. DirecTivo
I recently added a TV to my home office, a DirecTV Plus, which is a DirecTV receiver with DVR (Digital Video Recorder). In our livingroom, we have a DirecTivo and another in the bedroom. They’re such great products.
So now I’m getting used to the interface of the DirecTV Plus, which is different enough from the DirecTivo to cause me headaches. However, there are a few good things about the Plus unit:
- Mix stations actually work! On the DirecTivo, I can view them but with the Plus unit, I can select the station to listen to the audio from and even hop to a station quickly. During the day, I typically have the news mix station on.
- Very quickly add something to record. I just found this one out… from the guide, hit the orange (R) button and instantly that program is added to the list of things to record.
So far, that’s it… I don’t like the grid guide, but don’t know how to change it to a list mode, like the DirecTivo has. I guess I should take a little time and RTFM.
