Roughing it

22nd Jun 2006Uncategorized

Of course, when you want to experience the great Canadian outdoors, you should expect the great Canadian outdoors. However, we found last night that the Nagel’s aren’t ready for such adventures. Our cottage was buried a couple miles from the main road, winding (single lane) through thick forest, with wildlife abound (chipmunks, black squirrels and some deer. Oh, how can I forget the humongous spiders?). There was nobody around, we had no phone, and no cell phone coverage.

So now, I’m writing to you from the luxurious Comfort Inn in Midland, Ontario via my free high-speed internet connection. We just came from across the street, where we feasted like kings at Boston Pizza. We brought home the leftovers & put them in the fridge here, and will reheat them tonight.

Laura and I have learned that when we vacation, we want to be pampered, not to be adventurers. Tomorrow we head for Toronto, where we upgrade again to another hotel (this time, with a pool!)
