My new addiction
First, it was Civ III… Christmas of 2002, I believe it was, I got a copy of this game and in a 3-day weekend, I played for 30 hours. I then thanked Laura for the gift, and put it away, only to be brought out again on 2 occasions: jury duty (I don’t know… I think the guy did it) and when I went to Phoenix for my graduation (4 hours on a plane, each way, played the game).
But I’m good, and I very rarely play now. Heck, even Civ IV is out now, and I know if I started playing that, my wife, kids, clients and yes, even the dog, would leave me. So I’m staying away from it.
Jason got me hooked on my new addiction. For Christmas, he got a Nintendo DS and we bought him Mario Cart DS. This game is good, but the addicting part is that you can hook up to a WiFi connection and play with others over the Internet. Unlike other online systems, this one is FREE. So, I logged in and immediately found 3 other 8-year-olds that can drive a virtual car better than me. Now, the evenings are spent with me swearing at a handheld game system, Jason begging to play and Laura yelling at me to give it to him. I’m slowing giving it up, but what a treat it is for that “one more game.”
By the way…. since today is almost over, I can say there’s only 2 more days…
