Garmin Forerunner 301

It’s a balmy 46° today in Buffalo, so I decided to go on a run with Scout. Of course, she hasn’t been running in a few months, so she was ready to go once we got outside. It’s always like that with her… the first block, she sprints and pulls me along at a quick pace. Typically, Scout will slow down at about mile 2 or 2.5, but today, she started dragging at mile 1.25.

Along with Scout, I brought my Garmin Forerunner 301 which is a stop-watch, heartrate monitor, and GPS receiver (to pinpoint location, pace, distance, etc.). This is the third time I ran with this watch, and when I downloaded the data that was collected, here’s what I got:

It’s not perfect (my heartrate, the red line, didn’t drop like that while I was running, and I didn’t cross Delaware Ave, like the map shows), but it’s still really cool. I can take this data (along with a lot of other information, including elevation) and export it as an XML file, which I can then use however I’d like. So I think I’m going to write a little something to show my last 3 runs… something like that.

Anyway, tomorrow is the Chinese New Year, and we’re celebrating Chinese New Year’s Eve with some Ying’s!
