Annual goals
I took this idea from Laura, who doesn’t make New Year’s resolutions, but rather goals when her birthday comes. Since it takes me a while to come up with my New Year’s resolution (2-3 weeks), and my birthday is the 18th of January, it fits well.
My 26th-year-goal was to finish a triathlon, and not be last. I did that. You can read more about it back in June. I was thinking of doing another this year, but I really have to work on my swimming, which I haven’t done any of since that race.
I think my 27th-year-goals are going to be along the same lines… fitness oriented. Looking through an older Men’s Health which I didn’t get to read yet, I found a list of Army Ranger fitness standards. Yes, that’s my aggressive goal this year – to be as fit as an Army Ranger. Here’s the list:
- 80 Pushups in 2 minutes
- 80 Situps in 2 minutes
- 12 or more Chinups
- Run 2 miles in 13 minutes or less
The thing is, I really have to work at ALL of these to achieve them. Lucky for me, this edition of Men’s Health tells me how. Now I just have to get up in the morning and get to the gym.
What are your goals for this year (either this age you’re at, or the year 2006)?
