My last post this year

31st Dec 2005Uncategorized

Christmas is over, and the goose got fat. Well, I did at least… luckily (?) I came down with the flu Sunday night (yes, Christmas night) and lost 6 pounds, so now I’m back to my pre-holiday weight. Of course, I’m still discovering things that the family got for Christmas, because much of Christmas night is a blur to me.

We got some pretty neat toys this year, like Jason’s Nintendo DS. We bought Mario Cart DS for it, and after I hooked it up to the wi-fi here at home, a bunch of 8-year-olds proceeded to kick my butt time after time. I found Yoshi to be the best car to race in.

Laura’s slowly been playing with her iPod video; now she just needs a new computer to store purchased music on. The 60GB iPod holds three times more media than her desktop computer can. It’s really an amazing thing.

And I’m still waiting to try out my Garmin Forerunner – a runner’s watch with a heartrate monitor and built-in GPS, so I really know how far I’m running and how hard I’m working. This thing is amazing – while running, I can leave marks, so I can find my way back to a certain point or even use the GPS to find my way home. This is definitely going to Florida with me, so I can go running at the resort and know how to get home again.

Speaking of Florida, we leave on Friday!!!! Honestly, it’s gonna suck driving down there, and probably suck even more driving home, but in-between, we’ll have a blast. Just making final arrangements now and will make sure our lists are complete very soon. Then we try to pack 7 people and their stuff into one minivan. It claims to seat 7 – we’re putting that to the test.

Completely unrelated (like how I use a transition, even where one doesn’t seem to fit?), I attended Byron Brown’s inauguration today (he’s the new mayor of Buffalo). Quite an event. Lots of singing & dancing, followed by quick political speeches and a few prayers.

That’s about all… I’ve got some work to do this weekend, and we’re having company over for New Year’s Eve. Lots of plans for 2006 – I hope it’s a great year for all of us!

PS – if you tried to get to the site in the past 2 days, sorry – I messed it up while trying to move it to my new server. It’s all set now, just a little bit of downtime. Wouldn’t have been so bad, but I really didn’t work too hard to fix the problem.
